OUR STORY

We’ve been cooking up fresh, made-from-scratch Mexican food for over 30 years.

Chef John Conley, a native of Phoenix, AZ, with his love of food and cooking embedded early on in life and the inspiration to open his own restaurant, John opened his first restaurant, Salsa Brava, at the age of twenty-one.  He later went on to open Fat Olives Italian Kitchen, join celebrity chefs on food tours such as the Mess Lords and make guest appearances on national cooking shows.

The readers of the Arizona Daily Sun have voted Salsa Brava the best Mexican restaurant five times and the best salsa nine times, is listed among the Food Network’s “Top Places to Eat in Flagstaff” and was featured in Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. John has strived to create an unforgettable blend of traditional Mexican and Southwestern cuisine with original dishes you won’t find anywhere else using local ingredients whenever possible, including fresh produce straight from the Flagstaff Farmers Market. Salsa Brava continues to be a favorite local and visitor spot to dine for Southwest cuisine in Flagstaff, AZ located on the famous Route 66.

MESS LORDS

The Mess Lords are celebrity chefs whose restaurants were featured on the Food Network. The original concept came from world-famous chef Guy Fieri and has since exploded with popularity. The culinary goodwill ambassador Mess Lords have taken their shows to military bases all over the world. Since 2012 they have fed over 250,000 military personnel, visited over 20 countries and 50 military bases. The aim of the group is to provide some great food as a way of thanking the military for all the sacrifices they make.

“The Mess Lords are more than willing to sacrifice their time to support our troops,” said Navy Entertainment Program Director Karen Fritz.

“We have taken the chefs all over the world. The feedback is great, a little bit of home and great food for military and their families overseas and in the states.”
